Houseplants - Best Accessory for Wellness

Houseplants are the best home accessory.  Your prints and patterns may change, but houseplants are steady companions that enrich your life and boost your health. I live in Texas and here we don't keep our windows open much.   Summers are too hot, and during winter we suffer from cedar allergies...   Our home needs added air filtration and we get that through our plants.  Houseplants filter out VOCs (volatile organic compounds), absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen.  This constant filtering is called phytoremediation.   Who doesn't needs their phytos remediated?  Supposedly houseplants remove 85% of air toxins.  Reason enough?

Boston FernPeople call me a crazy plant lady because I have them everywhere in our home.   But studies show that we need a plant ever 10 square yards to get the 85% air detox & other benefits.   That's easy!  I have at least one plant in every room. In the main living areas I have more.

The best and easiest houseplants are:  ivy, ficus, philodendrons, spider plants, peace lilies & ferns.  All of these are easy to pick up at the grocery store or Home Depot - no excuse.  Most of mine are from the grocery.   They have great ones.

spider plantOk...  enough facts.  Run out and buy some houseplants.   Find cool pots that match your decor.  Spread them around the house replacing old dusty lifeless accessories.   Bedside tables, dressers, desks, counter tops and end tables.  Consider sprinkling houseplants all over.   Do your family a favor and decorate to inspire and thrive.

If only houseplants could self water.  Consider your weekly watering as a chance to slow down.  Walk through the house with your watering can feeling grateful for your home and grateful for your health.
